Hope Children's Hospital takes on obesity at early stage

At 11, Emily Pass already has faced a disease that once primarily struck people in their 50s, 60s and 70s. Last spring, the sixth-grader was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. "The endocrinologist said we had two choices," Emily's mom, Marge Pass, said. "We could give her medication or we could enter a nutrition program." They chose the latter.
